His ingenious use of materials and sculptural ability have established him as an architect with an artist s sensibility and vision. Following a competition in 2009, he was chosen to design the National Museum of African American History and Culture. After teaching internationally and receiving numerous awards, Adjaye was knighted by Her Majesty the Queen for services to architecture, following the award of his OBE in 2007.
