Landscapes
- In his latest work, Bernd Uhde searches for a maximum level of abstraction
Photos that are so compelling, complex, and interesting for just that reason: Landscapes
is a series of works from Bernd Uhde in which he searches for a maximum level of abstraction via framing and motif selection in things made of concrete. Some pictures cannot simply be deciphered as motif photographs, but rather suggest abstract textures of a rough, fibrous paintbrush, smoothed colors, or oils merging with each other – and thus, painting. This confusing, vexatious game between two fundamentally different art techniques – photography and painting – emphasizes the aesthetic dimension of his work. Aesthetic convenience and hazy anxiety begin to oscillate and with that, Bernd Uhde creates one specific thing in particular: a situation can be viewed without there being any denial.
