Based in Basel, Switzerland, Manuel Herz Architects is an architectural practice that is embedded in research, and is operating on a wide range of typologies, locations and scales, from the architectural to the urban and territorial. Its projects include a hospital in Tambacounda (Senegal), the Babyn Yar Synagogue in Kiev, Ukraine and an apartment building «Ballet Mécanique» in Zurich, described by the New York Times as «A Building that Dances». His projects have won numerous international awards, been exhibited in museums and biennales worldwide, and acquired into the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), amongst others. Manuel Herz‘s books «From Camp to City» and «African Modernism – Architecture of Independence» have had a profound impact on architectural discourse and have received several awards.
