Edvard Munch – Palazzo Bonaparte, Italy

12 Feb — 2 Jun 2025

Palazzo Bonaparte is preparing to inaugurate an important exhibition season for the year 2025, on the occasion of the Jubilee and the 25th anniversary of the birth of Arthemisia .

From February to June, there will be a very important monographic exhibition dedicated to Edvard Munch, with 100 works from the Munch Museum in Oslo.
More than 20 years after the last exhibition dedicated to Munch in Rome, the largest exhibition ever held arrives at Palazzo Bonaparte.
Edvard Munch (Norway, 1863 -1944) is celebrated with a major retrospective, under the patronage of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Rome, in collaboration with the Munch Museum in Oslo.

An undisputed protagonist in the history of modern art, Munch is considered a precursor of Expressionism and one of the greatest symbolist exponents of the nineteenth century, as well as the interpreter par excellence of the deepest anxieties of the human soul.
The exhibition, curated by Patricia G. Berman, one of the greatest scholars in the world of Munch, will tell the story of the artist’s entire universe, his human journey and his production, and will do so through 100 works, including one of the lithographic versions kept in Oslo of The Scream (1895), but also The Death of Marat (1907), Starry Night (1922–19249), Girls on the Bridge (1927), Melancholy (1900–1901) and Dance on the Beach (1904).
