Full Description

After her training at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and a longer stay in Italy in the 1980s, Anne Loch (1946–2014) found great appreciation as a painter of landscapes and still lifes. In 1988 she travelled to Thusis in the canton of Graubünden for 14 years – the retreat was radical both in relation to the art world and to the new surroundings. She quietly created an extensive body of work that deals with nature, the image of the landscape in painting and the artificial paradise in all its fragile beauty. After another stay in Germany, she returned to Graubünden in 2013, where she died a year later in Bergell.

The Bündner Kunstmuseum Chur dedicated a comprehensive retrospective to Anne Loch. This monograph commemorates the works she created in seclusion.
