The Jenisch Museum Vevey has the immense privilege of hosting a private Swiss collection of contemporary works never before revealed: that of the Genevan Thierry Barbier-Mueller (1960–2023). Driven by an existential quest, the latter brought together during years of confidential passion the most eminent Swiss and international artists of his time, such as Silvia Bächli, Spencer Finch, Antony Gormley, Jannis Kounellis, Markus Raetz and Nan Goldin. The collection is finally presented to the public by the very will of its owner and, subsequently, of his family, revealing the coherence of this rich ensemble. The exhibition, mainly structured around works on paper, explores several recurring themes in the collection: the seascape or forest landscape, the human figure as well as the motifs of Eros and Thanatos . A captivating stroll where art becomes the fragmented mirror of a personality.
An exhibition curated by Charlotte Savolainen-Mailler, curator of the Fondation Musée Barbier-Mueller, Zoé Barbier-Mueller, Nathalie Chaix, director, and Margaux Farron, assistant curator of Fine Arts
