As part of the opening of the exhibition of his photographs, Les Franciscaines welcomes Sebastião Salgado, a photographer known worldwide for his work and his ecological commitment.

Brazilian naturalized French, this photographer-traveler has traveled the entire planet, or almost, to observe, bear witness and capture, through his lens, what interests him deep down: life. He has become, over time, the privileged witness of the torments of men and the beauty of the world. An economist by training, promised a brilliant career as an international civil servant, he dedicated himself to photography late in life.

Of great formal power, his black and white photographs of men and women at work, of the vast migratory movements of our time but also of preserved landscapes and communities, make us aware of the state of the world.
