We are Europe – Mechelen Cultural Centre, Belgium

Top photographer Lieve Blancquaert traveled throughout Europe during the spring of 2023. Slow travel allowed spontaneous meetings in as many as 27 Member States, with Europeans from all over. In addition to layered and disarming portraits, Lieve brought life stories that offer us more insight into today’s Europe. Both major current themes and small personal stories are discussed. Lieve is aware of the challenges of the European Union, but also looks for what we as Europeans can be proud of. As in Lieve’s previous projects, people are central.

‘We are Europe’ is an informative, adventurous and emotional representation of a journey that starts and ends in Mechelen, from March 16 to June 30, 2024. Since the beginning of March, Lieve’s journey can also be followed on VRT MAX & VRT CANVAS .
