Lost in the Beauty of Bad Weather – Blin plus Blin, France

“Depuis douze ans que j’arpente l’univers visuel du climat et des intempéries, j’ai vécu la période des confinements successifs d’abord comme une vraie souffrance, puis comme une parenthèse très étrange au sein de mon parcours photographique. Seul sur les routes, j’avais l’impression de transgresser une règle. Cette transgression fut pourtant stimulante. Ainsi échappé du temps et de l’espace, isolé mais libre de mes mouvements alors que la population était contrainte à l’immobilité, j’ai continué d’explorer les méandres de ce mauvais temps nourricier et constitutif de nos âmes. J’ai photographié des paysages désertés, vidés de leurs touristes, tout un monde d’humidité, d’averses brutales, de neige aussi. C’est ce “mauvais temps” de toujours, celui de nos vacances pluvieuses, de nos chagrins, de nos joies, de nos émotions, de nos souvenirs d’enfance que je photographie.”

“Over the last twelve years I have been charting the visual universe of the weather, in particular, what we call “bad weather” . I experienced the successive periods of lockdown as a real hardship at first and later as a strange interlude in my journey as a photographer. Alone on the routes I took, I had the feeling of breaking the rules and I found myself stimulated by this transgression. Like an escape from time and space, isolated but able to move freely while the population was forced into immobility, I continued to explore the complexities of the “bad weather” that nourishes us and forms a constituent part of our soul. I photographed deserted landscapes, empty of visitors, a world of dampness, rain and snow. It is this eternal “bad weather”, that of our rainy holidays, our sorrows, our joys, our emotions, our childhood memories that I photograph.”
